Who we are

Welcome to AQITA, a website dedicated to the Matildas — women who shaped science but have too often been forgotten by history. Here, we share their lives, explain their work, and put their names back on the map.

AQITA was born from a BUT MMI student project. All students were tasked with creating an educational, engaged website around the Matilda theme. The result: a clear, mobile-first resource designed for teaching.

Goal

We have three simple goals:

To make forgotten women researchers visible.

To make their work understandable, even when it’s highly technical.

To inspire new generations to pursue science.

What You’ll Find on AQITA:

Short and long portraits of researchers.

PhD summaries and simplified explanations.

Curated selections of books, films, and educational resources.

An interactive Matilda Timeline.

Erasing scientific lives erases role models. Highlighting these journeys reshapes young people’s perspectives and enriches educational narratives. AQITA aims, modestly, to contribute to this work of memory and education.
